Sports Coach

 

Teaching at Williamsburg Charter School:

The Williamsburg Charter High School unites youth, families, staff, teachers and the community at large in providing young people with the tools necessary to make sense of the world and prepares them in their journey to become skilled workers in and literate citizens of the world community.

 

Young people will accomplish this through their participation in a rigorous and demanding liberal arts education that includes language, literature, writing, science, history, mathematics, the arts, technology and explorations in disciplines designed to teach fairness, justice, respect and compassion for themselves and others as well as the skills of critical thinking, communication and research.

 

Pay Range:

Coach Stipend: $25,500 (for full time - 1700 hours)

Education Award; $7,395

Our Program:

Williamsburg Charter High School (WCHS) is a high performing, public charter high school located in Brooklyn, New York. WCHS opened in August 2004 as the first Chancellor-authorized charter high school in the City of New York with a ninth grade class of 131 students. WCHS has grown to serve a little fewer than 1,000 students ranging from grades nine through twelve.

Our educational program enables every student to graduate well-prepared for college and the world beyond it. Most importantly, all WCHS students mature intellectually, socially and morally as a result of being an active member of a school community that endorses high expectations that challenge each student to achieve his/her full potential.

Essential Duties:

Williamsburg Charter High School located in Brooklyn is seeking an energetic, motivated, and inspiring coach for our high school co-ed school day and after-school sport/club programming during the school year.  Applicants should have at least 1-2 years of experience in coaching. The coach will work under the direct supervision of the Youth Development Manager. The coach will be required to enforce discipline, nurture student needs, and model sportsmanlike behavior at all times.  The hours are 37.5 hours per week, approximately 10:00 a.m.- 4:30 pm, pending game schedules. Pay is as per AmeriCorps. Responsibilities

  • The coach will work under the direct supervision of the Youth Development Manager 

  • The coach will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering an appropriate range of sports activities and programmes for students who attend the after-school club and/or during lunchroom games, events, and activities during the school day. Typical school responsibilities include: supervising, teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques, escorting students to and from practices and games, storing, distributing, and collecting  materials/equipment, and following all safety and school/league protocols


Job requirements

Skills/Qualifications

  • Applicants should have at least 1-2 years of coaching experience in a sport

  • CPR/AED Certification

  • Concussion Training
