Williamsburg Charter High School (WCHS) is a high performing, public charter high school located in Brooklyn, New York. WCHS opened in August 2004 as the first Chancellor-authorized charter high school in the City of New York with a ninth grade class of 267 students. Now in its thirteenth year of operation, WCHS has grown to serve approximately 963 students in grades nine through twelve. The school’s mission is to unite youth, families, staff, teachers and the community at large in providing young people with the tools necessary to make sense of the world, and prepare them in their journey to become skilled workers and literate citizens of the world. Young people will accomplish this through their participation in a rigorous and demanding liberal arts education that includes language, literature, writing, science, history, mathematics, the arts, technology, and exploration in disciplines designed to teach fairness, justice, respect and compassion for themselves and others, as well as the skills of critical thinking, communication and research.
Williamsburg Charter High School provides a broad liberal arts academic program to the high-school age youth of north Brooklyn. School programs are individualized to connect to each student’s particular level of development, including English Language Learners and students with Special Education Services. Further, WCHS provides supportive relationships with faculty, extended instructional periods, and opportunities after-school and on Saturdays for additional academic support. Social and emotional support is also available to students to ensure their non-academic needs are addressed. Students are accepted to WCHS through a random lottery with no minimum requirements, tests, or auditions required to gain entrance and, as a public charter school, there is no tuition.
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for the accurate inventory, transaction entry, and reconciliation of inventory movements. This position will rely on solid analytical skills, critical thinking, and good communication skills to reconcile and execute inventory transactions, adjustments, and resolve inventory discrepancies
Compiles data from sources such as contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting reports and writes, types, or enters information into computer to maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping, or other records.
Conducts inventory audits
Prepare inventory transfers and issues transfer manifests as needed
Compiles stock control records and information such as consumption rate, characteristics of items in storage, and current market conditions, to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.
Prepares requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional stock items
Compares nomenclature, stock numbers, authorized substitutes, and other listed information with specifications, and similar references to verify accuracy of requisitions and shipping orders
Reviews files to determine unused items and recommends disposal of excess stock
Disseminates and maintains keys and supplies to all staff
Orders new keys as needed
Reorder office and school based supplies as needed
Participates in the testing process that include the use of calculators, rules, and/or any other educational materials that require inventory and dissemination
Participates in the school wide mobile phone initiative by recommending structures and solutions to ensuring that student phones/materials are collected during testing and also on a day to day basis using the Yondr system
Leads the process of assigning student locks and lockers each year
Collects locks at the end of the school year
Ensures a systematic approach to organizing and maintaining educational supplies (textbooks, workbooks, etc.) at the beginning, during and end of year
Tracks and locates all educational materials in the building as needed/requested by staff
Collaborates with the Operations team to ensure that the School Store is operational and functional for the duration of the day
Collaborates with the operations team to ensure that the school lunch process is managed for breakfast and lunch
Along with the technology team, manages the laptop cart distribution to teachers and staff

Associate's degree or relevant work experience
1+ years in inventory specialist role
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of inventory software
